Who We Are

Meet George Nicholas Russo III, Esq.

George N. Russo III is an attorney with The Russo Firm specializing in immigration, criminal defense, and personal injury cases. In his immigration practice, George focuses on family petitions, marriage-based immigration, cancellation of removal, asylum, VAWA (Violence Against Women Act), waivers, and employment and business-based immigration.

The Russo family story is rooted in immigration — George's grandparents immigrated from Portugal to the United States and settled in Newark, where the family has been serving the community for over 30 years. That personal history drives George's deep commitment to every client who walks through the door.

In addition to immigration matters, George provides consultations for foreign-born defendants charged with criminal offenses — a critical intersection that few attorneys are equipped to handle. Before joining the firm, George served as an assistant county prosecutor assigned to the trial team and the special narcotics enforcement unit, where he prosecuted hundreds of cases including narcotics, assault, theft, burglary, sexual assault, and motor vehicle offenses.

George has also represented large national corporations in automobile liability, premises liability, and construction accident cases. Having worked on behalf of national corporations and their insurance companies, he is uniquely versed in how these companies defend injury lawsuits — giving his personal injury clients a powerful advantage.

George earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. After law school, he clerked in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Criminal Division.
